Welcome to The Vitality Project.
For many years now, the prevailing attitude and opinion of the health provider community was that the diagnosis of type-2 diabetes automatically meant a life-long process of treatment as it was (and currently still is) considered to be an incurable, chronic disease with associated and justifiable medical treatments.
These treatments are, and have been typically the use of many types of drugs to control the myriad of health issues and risk factors associated with this very common disorder. Drugs used to treat high levels of blood fats, medications to control high blood pressure, blood sugar and many other drugs added to the mix to try and control the widespread metabolic damage this disease ultimately causes are typically given to people of all ages every day.
Until recently, this has been the mantra…”Once Type-2 Diabetes, Always Type-2 Diabetes”…. not so fast…as with most health concerns…old treatment options founded upon very out-dated information very typically dies a very slow death indeed.
Recent clinical and research evidence published in the British Medical Journal from researchers from the University of Glasgow has indicated that type-2 diabetes can be Completely reversed with a moderate degree of weight-loss in patients suffering from this disease. According to these researchers, weight reduction equaling 30 Lbs. or more has consistently resulted in the complete remission of the disease.
If you consider the fact that in 1980 approximately 108 million people suffered from type-2 diabetes on a global scale compared with 422 million now? In the United States alone, there are over 30 million people with the disease, 7 million of which do not even know they have it!
The treatment options remain the use of drugs with only a small effort to instill lifestyle changes in patients. The effects of this are resultant increases in associated health care costs and a shortened life by 6-10 years!
According to the researchers complete remission of the disease “is clearly attainable for some, possibly many, patients,” it is “very rarely achieved or recorded.”
In addition, other studies conducted in the U.S. have found a similar pattern including a study which followed 120,000 patients over 7 years and found that only 0.14 percent of these patients were recorded as remissions?
Although, from a statistical perspective, there needs to be a better system of compiling cases in remission, the most likely reason is that few patients are trying to place themselves into remission by instituting strict lifestyle changes.
Above all, weight loss (reductions in total and abdominal body fat) is the most essential manner with which to cure yourself of type-2 diabetes or prevent it from ever happening in the first place…and this is the most important key point that you should take from this article.
Type-2 diabetes can be prevented and cured with a combined approach of various lifestyle interventions.
It’s time now that other health care providers, insurers, post-educational institutions and government agencies recognize a well-known fact that has been propagated for years by many health care providers who understand this. Research has now proven it’s case…time to act and use this information to treat patients who have type-2 diabetes and prevent it in others who may be at risk of developing it!
