Hello My Friends
Welcome To The Vitality Project!
As a professional health coach concerned with the health and well-being of my clients it is my intention to improve your well-being and longevity by using the principles of nutrition, fitness, diet, lifestyle dynamics, and anti-aging medicine.
Together you and I will work as a team to accomplish all of your health needs and to ensure that you practice prevention and live your life through the lens of quality.
Remember….your quality of life is the measurement of successful living regardless of your age.
Any successful business regardless of size needs some key ingredients in order to be competitive in the current marketplace.
Some of these ingredients could possibly include corporate leadership, talent retention, employee engagement, improved productivity and adequate business planning.
If you really want to look at issues pertaining to market performance and success you only need to look at the level of employee disability, absenteeism and staff turnover rates to understand where the problems really are.
The success of any business clearly lies with the health of the employees….period!
If you look at the business that are doing exceptionally well over the long-term, they are looking at employee health much differently than most other companies. These companies are led by people who understand that their corporate plans and strategy for success are completely reliant upon employee performance.
If you have a large number of your work force chronically ill with high levels of morbidity, stress and presenteeism…forget about productivity and employee engagement. You will be chasing the wind on this one! Of course this is not to mention the numbers of employees that are absent from work, on medical leave or on a disability claim. These numbers are truly staggering.
Sure, back pain is a major cause of disability in the workplace but that is because it’s prevalence is reported and tracked with reliable metrics.
Do you know how many employees you have that are coming to work every day but they are in chronically poor-health or facing chronic stress? These folks are present yes but productive….not a chance. This is the real cause of poor company performance…..presenteeism.
The real problem here is that these numbers are NOT measured or tracked and this is why the affects of poor employee physical/mental health have a much greater influence upon work performance that any other indicator.
If you want your employees to work harder, smarter and be a present, contributing influence upon the success of your business….you may want to consider the fact that healthy employees are happy, more productive and less likely to be absent from work or leave the organization.
Here are just a few examples.
Heart disease, obesity, type-2 diabetes and cancer lead to the most lost productivity in the workforce as the employee base continues to age. The costs to the business community are hard to calculate. However…this is a game-changer.
If you consider the fact that the most common cause of cancer is totally preventable (lung) with the implementation of smoking cessation programs. Employee wellness programs designed to improve the lifestyle of employees can have a positive effect upon the development of heart disease, diabetes and obesity. These improved outcomes have been demonstrated to be long-lasting.
There are also lots data which indicate that investing in employee health pays off big-time. This is not new information.
I could also go on regarding the influence of stress in the workplace…the most important influence of any on employee performance. Does your workplace have a employee mental health policy?
The health of your employees has now become very much your business in a literal sense as your business model including your budget should include a very large provision for employee health and wellness.
People spend upwards of two-thirds of their lives in the workplace. Workplace health promotion is the most important place to give your employees to tools they need to be healthier, more productive, happier and engaged. Good health habits established in the workplace have been shown to also translate to a healthier home life. This affect has a positive influence upon employee health which although difficult to predict is essentially quite significant.
Most companies either no very little for their employee’s wellness, give them a few wellness benefits or hire a company to provide a few services. Although some of these initiatives can be valuable….participation rates and effectiveness is much better when these activities can be promoted in-house to employees while getting them actively involved by the formation of an employee wellness council.
The improvement of employee health and wellness starts and ends with employee engagement, feedback and input.
