Hello My Friends and Welcome To The Vitality Project!
Spoon-feeding is a process where a person or persons personally provide information, guidance, assistance and coaching to a person with the intent of changing their behaviour. Some call this process coaching, but I simply call this a passive system of giving assistance to someone who does not seem willing to become much more self-motivated.
True leadership really implies that those in a leadership role provide enough information to begin the enabling process. The individual recipient then has to use their sense of resourcefulness and initiative to take the next steps to acheivement.
Spoon-feeding not only causes a sense of disempowerment but it completely removes all the responsibility of learning and growing.
Here at The Vitality Project….there is no spoon-feeding allowed. Here it’s really a process of personal empowerment. The methodology I use is the process I have always utilized….coaching is really the ability to place someone on a path and encourage their own sucess by giving them the necessary tools to be successful.
Spoon-feeding really just removes all of that personal power, growth potential and any leadership development that otherwise would have transpired.
This is the net goal of coaching and leadership development….personal enlightenment.
This also can be applied in the business community, teams, high-performance groups and yes….in health care.
Passive treatment, advice, process-improvements, project management is a dying entity in today’s world of constant change, time constraints and high demands for results.
The real problem with spoon-feeding is that it places all of the responsibility regarding learning, acheivement and leadership development on the wrong person (s).
Individual initiative sometimes has to be encouraged, developed and prompted by others who can see the potential in people and are willing and capable to allow those who are striving for betterment to succeed.
Those who are coached can then themselves be coaches to others.
This is really what we are talking about here isn’t it?
YES WE ARE!!
AND THIS IS WHAT I DO!
